    What can I say - you've got the idea, but you need to isolate them more and do some gardening - like removing the left lower leaf - before you shoot. You could also crop off the top as it is distracting and then you would be able to add more contrast.
    But hey - keep at it, mushrooms are fantastic things to photograph

    Yes, they are quite fantastic. I saw them and immediately I knew I wanted the photo. Thanks for your advice, I didn't even notice the leaf till you mentioned it.

    I too go sort of mad over mushrooms, but what I now do is take that first shot, the one that drew me to it in the first place. And then I stop and try different shots, slowly clearing/gardening as I go along.
    But would you believe it - nearly half the time the best shot is the first one!
