Well, in answer to that...

I think it's a habit!

They are my boyfriend's hands. Both him and myself are generally anxious people, and I think as a habit, we both do things like that, and chew our fingers and stuff (chew not eat!!!).

I think it's a general characteristic of nervous minded people.
