My First B&W Photos...

Hey! I am new to this board and very interested in photography and film. I took a few pictures this evening and decided to post two of my favorites for you. Please tell me your truthful opinion and criticism! Thank you!

Here is a photograph of a statue in my home...

A mantle display I have that I decided to capture on a descending angle...

i really like your second shot and probably wouldn't change anything at all about it.

on the first, the dark section along the whole right hand side takes away from the image in my opinion. if i were you, i would reshoot this and get in closer to the statue. do a closeup of her face or something. i think you've got an interesting enough subject... it just needs better composition. it also looks a teency bit out of focus to me. am i imagining that, or does someone wanna back me up here? :scratch:

The first one doesn't do much for me... sorry.

The second one is good fun! I love abstracts: light & shadow, lines & curves... well done.

I agree that the second picture is more interesting, unfortunaely I have nothing to add. I do, however, agree with Carlita about the first image.
