I took this one today, when I stumbled on what looks like a "Great Blue Heron" fishing in the tide pools of Shell Beach. I'd never seen one of these before, and they really are quite striking birds, with an impressive wingspan (almost 6 feet, or 2 meters!).

With birds like this, I might have to start learning to take bird shots!

I love the shot. Is there anyway you can lighten, just a bit , what the birds leg is standing on. It may be my screen but I can't see where the leg ends and the hill begins. Does that make sense?

I am not a bird photographer so I would take that with a grain of salt. All and all its a fantastic shot.

Thanks, everyone. D, I'll see if I can pull some contrast out of the legs and feet.
