My first star trail

Hey,
I tried this out last weekend, but I kept getting those pink blobs in the left top corner. This was consistent even when I changed location, but only appeared during my long exposures. Does anyone have an idea of what may be causing this?

That would be a heated up sensor.
Some cameras have known issues with this (like the Nikon D80) due to design flaws.

What camera were you using?
How long was the exposure?
What ISO were you using?

It looks like lights from an alien spacecraft.

I agree that it could be the sensor. There are some ways to cool your camera down to avoid this.

Although I haven't tried this, I think the sensor heat problem can be addressed by reducing exposure time, taking multiple shots in series and stacking the results.
