I've been trying to capture more portraits and people especially in black and white. I took this photo and i liked the composition and all but felt like the image was too dull. critiques are welcome.

I'd get in closer -- head, shoulders, and maybe her arms and hands -- her legs and feet are not doing a lot of the composition. That's my first idea, at any rate.

i also agree with tighter, how are the tones they look light on my labtop?

Yes, get closer. And watch what's in the background. If you crop out the blind (or whatever it is) on the left wall that would help this picture.
