My New D40: First Shots

Just got a Nikon D40 with grad money!! Whoo hoo. I love it. Here are some of my first shots. The ceiling pic is in my house, and all others are in some junk pile next to a country road by my house

congratulations on your new camera!

I think you could choose your subjects better to have a more interesting picture.

i like the last pic. Shows depth.

The last one could use more color. The rest just look like snapshots of rubble. Have you looked into an editing program like Lightroom 2? You can download a free 30-day trial. If you use a Mac you can do the same thing with Aperture.

Keep at it. A general rule of photography is your first 10,000 pictures will be junk.

hmm...well perhaps it's not the subject that's the problem..my framing was probably too generic. In my view, photography means creating something out of nothing..I failed haha..I'm gonna get some more up soon

I use the GIMP for my editing, but didn't touch any of these up
