    My wife has a forestry degree...she knows all the local trees here...but I'm not sure if she will know that. I will ask her.

    errm, no .. not in the UK! that is in Quintana Roo, Mexico, Yucatan Peninsula. Subtropic to tropic climate that means.

    I believe it is a species of Acacia. Which species I do not know.

    Edit to say, perhaps Whiteball?

    Could it be a Mimosa Tree of some sort? Does it flower?

    It is a mimosa tree.I have a few of them in my backyard.

    thanks for that ... mystery solved then i suppose :)

    Holly, not sure if it flowers, only saw it that one day last week, and then it did not flower ...
