I agree, the second one is too small to appreciate.

The first one is amazing though, I love the shadows. I assume the swirls are some shoe print?

I would also like to see #2 a bit larger and maybe sharper. If I was to shoot the first I might have tried a different perspective from lower to the ground and a bit more angled. Good efforts though.

I kept trying to make it bigger and then for some reason it just got smaller. It was strange.

The second one is fantastic! I would crop it closer to the horizon though, I feel like the clutter of the path takes away from the tree. I would crop it where the incline of the hill gets pretty sharp. Great shot!
