Need Help Buying Camera

So I recntly found photography and really want to learn more about it. I took a trip to Europe this summer with an old Nikon Coolpix 2.1mp camera which was OK for little snapshots here and there, but I really felt limited with the camera. I am looking for a camera that is about $250 and under. I want to be able to have manual controls to take artistic pics etc and I want a high zoom. I was looking at the Fujifilm s5200 or the s700. Maybe an Olympus 500-UZ or something alike. I can always pick up a used or discontinued camera on ebay too. Thanks!

You may not be able to get all the features you want in a camera under $250. If you raise your budget to around 400, you'll get a good camera with the features you want. The Panasonic Lumixes are good cameras, have the zoom you want, megapixels, leica lenses, are SLR like in shape, but they cost almost 500. Those are really good for a P&S, do your research, look around, and you'll find a good one.

What about a used Canon Rebel 300d 6.2mp SLR. That soulds pretty awesome and they are going for around $300 on ebay.

Well, normally the Rebel 300Ds (Rebels) sell for 650 CAD body only. That price on eBay may sound a bit fishy. If you do want to buy a 300D you will need to spend more than $300, and once you aquire the camera, you will need to buy lenses, if you buy the body only. But like I said, that is a good camera, but be careful on eBay.
