Camera's coming with the standard 18-55 lens. Beside the 55mm 1.8 lens should I go with this one?

They are both pretty low end. Honestly, I'd save for a 70-200 f/4 L. You can get one new for just over 600 and used for under 500, maybe less if you catch a great deal. Used lenses are great - I picked up my used Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 for less than half retail price. You could also consider the 70-300 is like I have, which is a tiny bit less expensive than the f/4 L.

If you're set on getting a cheap telephoto zoom for the T1i, consider the 55-250. It's an EF-S mount so it's designed specifically for crop sensors like the T1i and it has image stabilization, which is nice for telephoto lenses. It's also in the same price range as the first two, but with better image quality.

Thanks! I will check all of them. The last one (cheaper end) I can pick it up for $185 on amazon used. Since I'm new and buying my camera for $600, I just can't justify using another $600 on a lens yet. But I know eventually I will end up with it. But I'd disregard the ones I've mentioned on my original post and start looking into the 55-200 as you mentioned.

I think I've got a lot to learn first before moving into something more epensive, do you agree?
