So I got a Speedlight SB-27 for doing some work on a computer. I downloaded the manual, but it came out before Nikon had digital cameras, so none of the features are aligned with any digital models, and I don't know what the equivalent film cameras are. I have a D200, and D5100 and I would like to know if anyone knows which film cameras I would use to see which features work with my cameras.

Thanks for the link :)

Is my on camera flash trying to pop up supposed to happen with a flash in the hot shoe? Is it bad that it can't pop up?

Nikon's DSLRs made since 2003 use i-TTL and the Creative Lighting System, or CLS.

Before that, Nikon's flash system was D-TTL, and before that just TTL.

Nikon TTL History - TTL, D-TTL, iTTL

So it not being a compatible flash means that it will only work in manual mode, and I have to set everything manually? No metering read from camera? That kinda sucks.

Ok, I'm getting the hang of this flash's settings with the D200 now. Unfortunately on the D5100 it isn't as cooperative.
