Great look, a little tight around muzzle.

OPINION FOLLOWS

Animals with dark and light fur are really difficult to shoot because the dark fur just soaks up the light while leaving the white bleached out.

You used a flash, close to or on camera and a fairly large aperture so at this distance the DOF is limited and, while the eyes are in focus, the nose and ears aren't.

You need more light, smaller aperture, light from an angle. a little more room around subject.

Excellent comments - that's the kind of feedback I'm looking for. Thank you.

The light sux. Also, about the composition.. Central composition generally sux, almost always. The head more to the left, though in this photo it might not be much of a solutiuon as there is nothing interesting in the background. Maybe just make it a portrait insted of landscape, that stuff on the left and the right is useless.
