Hi,

I'm about to give up scanning my own negatives. I'm never satisfied with it. Part of it is that I don't have state of the art equipment. I don't like the results of local commercial services like the local labs, Walmart, Walgreens etc. Usually over sharpen and small file sizes.
I don't mind big files. In fact, I want big files I can play with.
Are there dedicated mail-in services for this you can recommend?

Thanks,

My question sorta fits in here, so I'll jump in with a true beginner question. I'm just starting to learn about commercial scanning of my B&W negatives. Is the digital image which I receive from the scanning service a negative or a positive image? If it's still a negative, how is it converted to positive? I'm using Adobe to convert my RAW images, but I assume I'd need something else to convert true B&W negative images to positives. Thanks, Thom

I think I've answered my own question. It appears that in Photoshop I can go to IMAGE - INVERT to switch from negative to positive and back. Thom
