New flash on old body (Canon) ??

Will new E-TTL/E-TTL II flashes work on 35mm bodies meant to use A-TTL & TTL flashes?

I have a 350D and a 10s. The 10s uses the older "EZ" flashes, will the newer "EX" flashes work properly on it? I want something that will work on both...


I haven't been able to find much on this. All of my search results deal with the opposite (old flash, new body) of what I want to do.

I would think that the EX's are backwards-compatible, but I haven't tried it and wouldn't risk it. Have you tried asking at a local camera store? I could field the question to the guys at the L&S near me next time I'm in if no one has the answer in a few days. They might have an idea (one guy in there really knows his stuff when it comes to cameras; he walked me though using the ST-E2 and he shoots only Nikon... ).

Thanks. I think that helped. It sounds like all of the EX flashes are TTL & E-TTL compatable; which is good as the 10s is A-TTL & TTL compatable.

I had hoped that all of the newer flashes were backwards compatable, but I wasn't entirely sure.
