I'm a very novice, but enthused photographer! I really enjoy it and look forward to learning more here. My main subjects are my kids and my dogs, as I am around them all the time! Any advice and constructive criticism on my photos is welcome and very much appreciated. :D

Do these images look grainy? Is that my inexperience or the lighting or what? I have a lot to learn! The first three were taken with my new Rebel XT and the last one was taken a few months ago with my sony cybershot junkie (but I love the pic of my boy!)

Hello and welcome - you have adorable children. ;) Grain can have to do with a few thing - if they are underexposed (too dark) and you make them brighter in a photoshop or editign program, it can cause heavy grain. Or if you use a high ISO number. The ISO on your camera can be set by using the arrow buttons on the back. 100 is the lowest and doesnt create grain but needs a lot of light to be used. the higher you go, the faster the 'film'. But also the more grain you will get.
If you have a nice bright light situation, use the lowest setting ISO. If you are in dim light sometimes you have to deal with a higher ISO but then at that point just try to get the best exposure you can so you don't have to add even more grain by brightening your pics. Hopre that helps.

What editing program, if any, are you using?

They look just about the same. A tad out of focus or grainy (not sure which they are...still need to learn my terms I believe! :))
