New lense macro

Here are a couple quick shots I got with my new lense...Canon 100mm macro.

1) Fly

1/200, f11, EX430 Flash with paper towel over

2) Dead cricket

1/200, f13, 12mm extension tube, EX430 Flash with paper towel over

I'm pretty happy with the lense, not with my skills.

looks like you are getting the focus right - macro is certainly difficult to pull off well - but I think you are off to a great start!

Which extension tube do you use? I might want to buy one as well for my 400D and 100mm lens...

Awesome shots, especially the 1st one. I have the same lens and I love it.

Did you notice those black dots in the 2nd pic? Might be some dust on your sensor perhaps?

mdw: I used a 12mm Kenko tube on the cricket. I have the full set so hopefully I will have time to get really close to a fly soon!!

niforpix: I did notice the spots :er: I guess it is time to try my hand at sensor cleaning
