We get these giant evergreen trees that topple over and die, and then, strangely enough, an new tree sprouts up in the stump. I always find it comforting.

Is there something I could have done differently with the photo to communicate it better?

Oversharpened. It is a fairly common problem. I'm not sure why but I see it very often.

I mentioned in another thread that I have no skill with advanced photo editing software. I used Photos for the Mac (consumer grade organization and light editing) to process this one, and I may simply have accepted the default sharpening. I'll try to dial it down in another edit.
