I have a N70 camera body & Nikon lenses for it... my grand daughter is really interested in learning photography, and I have an offer for a free Nikon D70 body from an old friend. Are the old lenses from my N70 compatable with the Nikon D70???

I hope so, as I would love to see her pursue photography as a hobby, but need to know if this match-up will work.

    Thank you... Bob

Free is good! What lenses do you have? They should all work...

Yup, no worries, they will all meter and AF on the D70.... Going forward (just so you know) some of the smaller bodies do not have a focus motor built in so they all would be manual focus. I say get that free D70 and have fun teaching your grand daughter about photography!!!

If I'm not mistaken, just about every lens from 1959 to present should work on every body since 1959 (or so). I forget where I read that...and that would be only for Nikon.

Bad info. Nikon Non AI (auto-indexing) 59-77 can actually damage most modern Nikons. I'm not a KR fan, but here is a chart with some info about lenses...

You're a tool. Somebody wants to do something nice for his granddaughter and you have to be a smartass.

Thanks for the fix, my phone doesn't know the difference and I wasn't awake enough to notice. At least you got the point.

Are you going to face the day with a better outlook today or just take the worst interpretation of everything again?

    Thanks one and all...

Parker 219: No problem.... I understood what you meant, as the camera alone doesn't make you a photog (any more than wearing a G.I. field jacket makes you a soldier....)

I gave my D70 with kit 18-70 and an SB400 to my 10 year old daughter. Within about 6 months she was off the 'P' and 'Auto' modes and onto aperture and shutter priority. She makes reasonable use of exposure compensation (she still uses Matrix metering) and flash compensation. She is a very visual person so her development of framing and composition advanced very quickly. She was given an 'indestructible' P&S when she was six and had used it until I gave her the dSLR.

You need to remember that you can't portray tone on the internet, so a smiley might have shown your intentions.

^ Yep, thats my point, he seems to take things the worst way possible. I always seem to think everyone is joking, some one could call me a @#$/&^#@ @#/£_×× &#×_& €% $#× and I would just laugh and compliment them on a nice original name.

Its all how you take things my friend.
