New photographer hoping to turn passion into career!

Hi I'm Kim! I've been interested and dabbling in photography since I was in high school, I got out of it when I went off to college and I'm now 24 and am returning to my past hobby hoping to turn it into something more. I got my camera when I was in high school so I know it's not the most advanced, but until I can afford a new one it's the only one I have to work with. Any advice or tips or experience that I could gain would be greatly appreciated!
