Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Hi guys! This is my first post on the forum.
Anyway, about 2 weeks ago I got my first DLSR camera, a Nikon D5000 with a Nikkor DX VR 18-55 Zoom lens. It's amazing!
I want to get some feedback on my photos. Some of my parents friends who have been professional photographers for years tell me that I have a great eye for photography, and that I could probably get a job doing it someday.
I'm completely open to advice and constructive criticism, so tell me what you think!
Here are some of the ones I've taken so far. Sorry there's kind of a lot..

#2 focus and lighting is spot on.
#4 Nice play of colors, although the angle could be made more interesting.

I like 5 & 6 a lot!

The 2nd one is lost on me, what was the purpose behind the photo?

The last 2, I can see what you were going for but maybe go back and play with the angles some more. Lay on the ground, stand on a chair or rock, get a more creative vantage point.

Happy Shooting! :)

F.Y.I. theres 2 things you might want to do with your posts here

#1, number your photos. It creates less mix up when C&Cing specific photos.

#2, Try to limit your photos to 5 per post. It makes C&Cing easier to said specific photos, else many will just start scrolling through and just C&C on only the photos that catch their eye.

That said and aside, im no photographer yet, so I cant really critique well, But I can give my personal, uneducated comments.

1. Interesting timing

2. Doesn't do much for me and I feel that it would have been better if you would have either zoomed out and got the entire rim, or zoomed in tight and straight and just gotten a shot of the die cuts and emblem in the center. And with better color (white balance maybe?)

3. No subject. May have been better done in B&W

4. Off center, and doesn't do much for me either. May have been better if centered with a much less DoF.

5. No subject for a specific focus point.

6. Cute. I like the DoF, but im unsure about the out of focus on his/her right ear

7. I think this one would have been good if the skateboard was in the picture as a whole and without the car in the background

8. If you would have gotten its eye in focus as well, that would have been a plus. But a bit too much of a snapshot I think

9. Not a fan of the cords in the shot

10. No comment

11. Nice shot, but the crooked lampshade really distracts my eyes.

12. Snapshot

13. I really like this one.

14. Unsure what I think about this

All in all though, I think they are pretty well done for a first time with a DSLR. I'm sure its much better than what I can do right now.

only one i like is the skateboard.

Thanks!

Thanks for the advice! I probably could have done better on the angles.

Thanks! I really like #2 for the reasons you mentioned.
#4 was kind of a quick one I didn't pay much attention to, but when I looked at it at home, I really liked it.

On my iPhone I like the plastic orange fence

Great advice! I'll take it all into consideration. What do you mean by subject in some of them though? Do you mean a point or object that stand out from the rest?

Lotsa' pics--too many to comment on individually, but what I see is a lot of potential. You seem to be able to create photos with a single subject and clear focal point, with good exposure and good color. Simple shots currently, kind of snapshotty, but you're not making a lot of mistakes that many people make, so on balance, lots of potential.

I'll let other's comment on my comments as im still developing my photographic eye. For now though, they are just my personal comments with my very uneducated idea's & critiques.

And yes, much like with grammar, your subject is your point of focus in a sentence/paragraph/story, etc. So yes, something that would be your central focal point. Unless its the photo as a whole. But then again that will vary from person to person.
