New RAW Format

Someone will always rewrite or recompile the things they want / need. RAW file support will almost certainly be one of them.

Exactly... that is my point. I believe Adobe is doing a good thing by standardizing RAW. Nobody is going to lose their photos. Unless maybe you lock them away in a time capsule... Then someone might be slightly inconvenienced in 300 yrs to convert it to a useable format.
