New to this C&C

Okay, I have had my camera for only a couple days and this is what i have so far. I know nothing of photography but i do want to learn. I was recommended the Nikon D3000 by a couple of friends and a local photography shop due to price and me having no knowledge of how to use it. I finally came up with some extra cash and decided i wanted to do this. Please help me learn.

#4 is best imo. others are lacking any real composition or interest. focal points in the dead center of the frame tend to be boring for viewers. try to plan your shots as best you can.

Number 4 is my favorite as well. I was just walking along the lake i liked what was in front of me. Besides what the other pictures being boring, does it seem like i had the correct settings?
