Newbie in Colorado seeking advice

I found the chart in the manual, thank you. This is all awesome advice. After one day and a few different times playing with my camera so far I feel like I crave being able to move in closer.... so the first lens I get may be for macro.

You could try some extension tubes for your current kit. I have a few that I tried with my Nikon 5100 and although the AF never worked, you really want to MF for macro anyway. I just got some cheap tubes on Amazon and they were fine. The best way that I've found is to use liveview screen and zoom right in then adjust focus.
