i am new to photography and i only have a Kodak v530(5mp) and a Kodak dx6490(4mp), i am still learning and would like to get some pointers on aperture and shutter speed and exposure compensation. here is a little photo shoot i did with my v530

Your photos have great content! :)

The only problem is the exposure. Most of them are overexposed. That causes those really bright white bits. Like on their faces in the first one and the bike handles in the last.

You'll need to override the camera's exposure setting and reduce it a bit.

This problem is happening because only a small part of your picture is very bright and the rest is relatively darker - so the camera just takes an average and tries to make sure the entire frame is exposed correctly. Which in theory sounds great... but cameras can't tell what we're taking photos of - so you'll need to underexpose in this case.
 
i will work on my exposure, i thought bright pictures are good, but like i said i am new to this and would love to get deeper into it, possibly buying a digital slr
