Night time Photography

For Aps-c the Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 is fast and sharp wide open. But it's more expensive and not as wide as the Tokina.
This is pretty much the fastest and best IQ wide to normal DX lens available.
 
If you want wide, I'd suggest use both the Tokina 11-16 II and the Sigma 18-35 for maximum flexibility. And hey...the Tokina is inexpensive enough...
 
I just don't think 18mm is wide enough on crop for landscape astrophotography work. Even using the rokinon 14 on crop wasn't wide enough for me
 
+1 for the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8, you'll need version 2 if you have an entry level body such as a D3000 or D5000 series camera. It can produce excellent nighttime shots especially for the Milky Way -- my favorite shot taken with the lens is this one: Under the Stars Flickr - Photo Sharing
