I've seen a few of these de-focus control lenses, but I'm not really sure what there main purpose is. I understand from there descriptions that they control the blur in the foreground, or background, but is the effect anymore dramatic than the effects of the correct aperture settings?

Has anyone here used one?

Thanks for any advice.

Sure, I used a 135mm f2 DC Nikkor for years. However, I used it because it was fast not because of the DC control. It means zero to me but some photographers care about "bokeh" or the quality of out-of-focus areas in an image. The DC control on the lenses adjusts the "bokeh." They never were very popular lenses mostly because they are fast and expensive.
