I just got this lens today, and I have loved it so far. After a few hours of shooting, I noticed that the aperture wouldn't go down to f/2.8. I tried in Aperture Priority and Manual mode, but nothing changed. Just to make sure everything was ok with the camera, I put my 70-200mm f/2.8 VR on, and it went right down to f/2.8. What is going on?! Please help!

    Thank you,

    John

I've got the same lens and it does the same thing. There was a discussion on www.nikonians.org about this and the short answer is it is a normal function of the lens. I don't remember the reasons but there is nothing wrong with it.

For a full explaination go to the site and check out the "Nikkor Lenses" forum section and do a search for this topic. You can join at the basic level for free. The advanced levels are paid but the free one lets you access this forum.
