Hi all I'm new to this site..looks like there is a lot of info to be found there :)
I have a Nikon D70, and one of my lenses is the 70-200 f4-5.6G VR. I know not the best zoom....anyway I may be able to get my hands on the 70-210D. Now I'm thinking, do I REALLY need both of these lenses?? Is one better then the other? Shoud I even bother with the 70-210 or just be happy with what I have?
    TIA:wink:

the 70-300 is an awesome lens, just as sharp as the 70-200 in the same range, just not as fast. I'm thinking it's either you, or sample variation.

Thanks for your post :) But what I'm looking at right now is either keeping the lens I have now (70-200) and maybe adding the 70-210. I can pick up the 70-210 for $150 cdn. I'm just not sure I need both lesnes, ykwim :D

    Thanks again:D

Why would you want two lenses that have nearly identical zoom ranges?

    Hi,
well that's just it, I don't need to of the same. Though I was hoping to get a little feed back about the 70-210. Is it a better lens then the 70-200? If you were going to buy one, which one?
    TIA

    I LOVE the 70-300 VR.

    Very sharp and great range.

I would rather bring this lens anyday than a 70-200, do to size of it and the range.

you sacrifice speed (f2.8 of the 70-200 VR i'm refering to), but you save $1000, get 100mm on the focal range, on a small telephoto zoom.

Dump the lens you have now and buy the 70-300mm VR.

I was debateing between this and a 18-200mm VR, and will NEVER look back, that extra 100mm gave me some great shots.

    i shoot a D70 aswell.

Thanks for your post Ed. I'm happy (enough) with the 70-200 for now ( trying to save up for the D300). I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to miss out on a good deal with the 70-210. I think I'll just save my money for now, and be happy with what I have:)
    Thanks again.

I've only shot with one 70-300m and was highly unimpressed. It could just be that particular lens but my old 70-210mm Nikon (on-D) gives much better results.

btw having 2 of something is not always a bad idea. ;)
