Nikon AF Nikkor 28-85 f/3.5-4.5

Just got this lens off eBay (Nikon AF Nikkor 28-85 f/3.5-4.5) and before I go back to the seller, I wanted to confirm my suspicions...as this is an older lens, I didn't want my inexperience with these lenses to make false accusations.

Is there a setting in my D7100 I need to activate for it to work with this lens? Whenever I try to use it on the camera, it just says EE for the aperture and won't let me release the shutter no matter what. Additionally, it won't let me change the focal length past the 50mm mark. It just sticks and even with brute force it doesn't want to move, nor do I want to apply such force.

As for the EE error, turn the aperture ring down to f/22. Problem solved.

As for the zoom ring, there's a physical problem with the lens. Sounds like there's a ribbon cable jammed up. Return it.

Actually it indicates error fEE - Lens aperture ring is not set to minimum lens aperture - and refers you to page 27 (CPU lenses with aperture rings) on how to do that.
