Nikon and Sigma? Help!

here is a picture wide open from my new baby Nikkor AF-S 80-200 f/2.8
I have a d300 too :)
(not a good picture, just showing the sharpness)

i have a bunch more wide open if you want to see them.

You might want to do what I do, I own the 80-200 AF-D and when I need AF speed, I rent the 70-200 VR.


Between the two, I've come to this conclusion:

the 70-200VR is just a little bit sharper in the center, but practically performs like a DX lens becuase the vignetting really is that bad.

The 80-200 AF-D is more uniformly sharp, tack sharp in the corners, hardly vignettes at all, definatly a better looking lens when you're shooting on full frame. IMO the rings are in better positions and feel better, the ergonomics are better, but the AF is slower then my grandma's driving.

The Sigma 70-200 seems to be pretty sharp, it focuses fast, however, and i used it on a D300, it's incredibly indecisive.

enough so, that you can actually see the viewfinder coming in and out of focus.
