Nikon Choices...

A little update...

So against all better judgment... I opted out of paying off the fiancees engagement ring and bought the following w/ my Christmas bonus... She said it was okay... so... :hugs:

Nikon D80 Digital SLR Camera with Two Lens Kit

a) 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX Zoom


b) 55mm - 200mm f/4-5.6G ED AF-S DX VR (Vibration Reduction)

c) Accessory Kit for Nikon D80 Digital SLR Camera (bag, SD card, cleaning kit, blah, blah, blah)

I bought them through Adorama (they had the best deal from what I could see vs. B&H, Ritz, etc.)...

I realize there is better glass out there, but I am just getting started... so... I suppose I should get a couple filters too (UV particularly comes to mind)

Well done! You shouldn't be disappointed. The D80 is great bang for buck IMO.

Now time to start saving for more lenses

One thing I would add when you can spare a few bucks is the 50mm f/1.8, which will give you a cheap, sharp, fast lens.... and unlike the D40x your D80 will autofocus perfectly with it.
