nikon D40 burst mode?

when i set my camera to burst, it only fires off about 3 shots max no matter what shutter its set at

is this something to do with the memory card? or other internal settings?

Likely your memory card is too slow. Are you shooting RAW? Try shooting in JPEG Fine and work your way down and see if it improves. You will only get, I believe, 3fps maximum, though.

i think aggressor is right...i have a cheapy card, and one of the extreme III cards the guy at BB MANDATED...lol...
but the extremeIII does have a quicker cache.

I agree with Agressor, using an Ultra II card my D40 will fire 5 or 6 Raw+jpeg, pause for about half a second then fire three more.

With a cheaper card it will only fire three before it stops. With the best card though, a D40 will only fire nine Raw or Fine jpgs before stopping. If you want continuous fire you have to go down to basic jpg quality and a smaller image size.

yeah i have a pretty cheapy one in there now, ill start lookin into a faster card
