Nikon D40 users Lens help

Frankly, because of the whole af-s thing, it's just as cheap to sell the d40 and then buy a d50, d80 or d200 with a quality af lens.

There are so many quality options as long as you are not limited to af-s.

Still kind of confused about the close up lenses

I have the D40 kit lens (18-55mm AF-S)

And the nikkor 55-200mm AF-S VR lens

Canon offers two close up filters, the 250D and 500D

The 250D says its for lenses 50mm-135mm

2819A002 Canon 52 Close-up Lens 250D (for Lenses 50mm to 135mm)

The 500d says its for lenses between (70-300mm)

2821A002 Canon 52 Close-Up Lens 500D (for lenses 70mm TO 300mm)

I am not really sure which one I should get and which one of my lenses it would be better to use it on.

I believe for a DX body the best all around lens to have is the Nikon 16-85mm. It is super sharp, way better than the 18-200mm. It also has the VR II whick works great. It is a 600$ lens but well worth it.
