Nikon D70s flash wont start automatically....

I am new to the Slr world and I bought a d70...I have a 15-70mm and 70-200 mm lense...but can't get the flash to work....any good beginner pointers and tips on this camera? Thnks

You'll have to provide a little more information; what setting/mode (ie 'Green box' mode) are you using, what are the conditions (inside, outside, dark, light, ).

If you are in the fully automatic mode, the flash will only pop up if the camera thinks its needed. If you want it to pop up, there is a button on the left side of the camera that looks like a lighting bolt that will force the flash up and to fire. If you are in semi auto or fully manual mode, the camera will never pop the flash up, you must always do it manually by pressing the flash button.
