Coming to a camera near you...Looks like Nikon finally woke up to Fujifilm's update scheme(press release text):

Another nice step forward from Nikon, it will enable a longer life spam for old bodies, make them more value in time. Good move Nikon!

Hoping the firmware isn't as buggy as their FX cameras.

I guess the cameras with the Expeed4 processor will benefit a lot better, for this "customized firmware upgrade store" from Nikon. It looks like for the three initial years the upgrades will be free. After that, they will probably start charging for you to do your own camera customization through this new feature.

From what was leaked, the RAW-based histograms look very interesting!!

Is viewing photo`s on the camera, not just showing the embedded jpeg, if when you shoot raw and have vivid or natural selected does it affect the embedded jpeg

JPEG based in all cameras, even if you shoot RAW only.

I have noticed when i have used "raw to jpeg" extractor that some brands of camera don't have a full resolution embedded jpeg but a lower one, but Nikon do have a full resolution one, this will affect how far you can zoom into the photo on the back of the camera.
