i want to start off by saying, i don't want to know how much a replacement will cost. if nikon wants 30 dollars for a 77mm lens cap, i can't fathom what this hood would cost if available.
anyway, i dropped my d80 with 85/1.4 attached with hood. landed almost flat, but the drop kicked off the hood. (camera bounced a few time lol, unscathed). i thought there was going to be a lot of damage to the threads, but there's only a little dent in the hood, preventing it from being screwed into the lens.
soo, best route of repair..? pliers and a warm screw driver? or should i send it to my father (who is a machinist) to replicate the design?
anyone every bent a metal hood?
