Hello,

I am interested in buying a couple Nikon Lens for my D700. I've got a list of some lens I'm interested in, but not sure which to get.

The first two I'm looking at is the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G ED AF AF-S Zoom and the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8G ED AF-S Nikkor.

If I get those two, will I need to buy the lenses below, or will these 2 cover it?
Nikon 50mm f/1.4 AF-D
Nikkor 17-55 f/2.8

Nikkor 12-24 f4
Nikkor 50mm f1.8

Thanks

well this doesn't appear to make much sense....

there is redundancy in the 2 x 50mm primes plus the 17-55 is a DX lens which is not optimal on your full frame D700...

so yes...

the Nikor 14-24 2.8, 24-70 2.8, 70-200 2.8VR are the logical progressions

if you want to supplement with fast primes the 85mm 1.4 and 50mm 1.4 afs would be the gear to look at..

enjoy...

I like some overlap in my zooms, so I'd suggest the 17-35 f/2.8 along with the 24-70 f/2.8. I'd add the fast primes: the new 50/1.4 AF-S and wait to see what might be announced soon.

Best,
Helen

agreed!

or throw in the 14-24 f/2.8 if you're sadistic (like myself. . .)

The 12-24mm f/4 is a DX lens. It will work, but get the 14-24mm instead.

out of the 17-35 and the 14-24, which one would you guys pick? (assuming no price limit, although theyre the same price)

also, could you use the Tokina 11-16 f2.8 on a d700? is that lens full frame?
what are your suggestions on using that as opposed to the 17-35 or 14-24?
i know the price difference is drastic, so i assume it doesnt perform as well. can you get away with shooting professional low light wedding pictures? is the distortion as bad as the sigma 10-20mm?
