i have a nikon d90 and for some reason the amount of pictures my memory card holds went up. i originally changed the jpeg to "fine" and it showed that it could hold about 250 pics. but now it shows that it can hold 650 pics, and its still in the "fine" setting. im not sure what i did. do you know?

You changed the resolution to medium or small. For a JPEG it has two modifiers: The "quality" of the JPEG (Basic, Normal, Fine) and the "size" of the JPEG (Small, Medium, Large). You can create any combination of the three, and I'm guessing you knocked it down to Medium size.

So that if you don't need images of especially good quality, you can stuff a bunch more of them on a memory card. If you plan on doing any sort of post-processing work, it's best to ALWAYS shoot on the highest possible resolution (Large/Fine) or shoot RAW.
