    Don't buy anything with less than 1GB of RAM, and don't worry about the CPU becuase if you're goign to be using a notebook with 1gig of RAM in it, then the CPU will do just fine. Make sure it's got a big HD too, 80GB minimum. I'd stick with XP because it works and the bigger the monitor, the better.
