I found out that my computer doesn't have enough memory to support NX-2. I can easily get more memory, but was looking around at computers. I noticed that you can now get a 'mini notebook' and maybe use it for photography storage and processing only. It would be great for travelling if you were shooting a lot and wanted to download to disc. But what about the small screen for editing? The Acer Aspire One has a 10+" screen. Knowing very little about these things, it seemed to me that the screen might be way too small for critical work. Has anybody tried one of these? What do you think?

    Confused as usual, Tom Beard

I havent really tried it one of these "netbooks" but in class we are shooting tethered to a macbooks and the reason our instructor likes shooting like this is A. u dont need a CF card so essentially your actual hard drive becomes your memory card And B. You are able to see the file on a bigger screen because as we all know theres been plenty of images we seen on our little 3" on camera LCD that we thought looked great but as soon as we where able to see them on our large computer screens realized that they wherent, so to stop rambling im going to say that even if the "netbooks" screen is only 10" its still better than 3" and travels well, thats a +1 in my book

those little netbooks dont really have the processing/memory power to handle heavy applications like photoshop and GIMP etc... well atleast mine doesnt. Get a normal 13.3 or 12" laptop with some nice amounts of ram if your gonna buy something. Else buy a few extra sticks of memory and get back to shooting :D

The small laptops aren't happenin' for image editing.

Most full size laptops don't have the RAM capacity to handle image processing software and like you speculate the small screen is, well to small.

I just went the other way and updated my desktop's editing monitor from 22" to 24" to allow more precise detailing when image editing.
