Hey guys,

I'm new to the site and just got my first digital SLR so I wanted to try it out last weekend. Here are a few shots I got, and any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks! :D

I like the blur in #1. Without it, the picture would be rather uninteresting. TIP: use a yellow filter (no. 8) for your film b&w.

And #2 looks like it could cropped in many interesting ways. Experiment.

any more C&C? I'm a noob with photography so any advice or critique will help a bunch.

all these nice photos are making me want to get a tripod.

Good job on the speed with 1&2. really captures the essence of NYC. I like the lady in the 2nd, kind of my thoughts of "harmony & chaos" if you will. tho the lights are blown out and not sure how i like the angle. dont know if a straight alignment would work or not.

I like em.
I agree about the lights being "blown out" ,glare, harsh, etc.
Angles look straight to me. Though slightly off in #2.

Thanks for the responses. I can see the point regarding the lights being blown out and harsh. I actually didn't have a tripod so I'm thinking it has to do with a little camera shake with the slower shudder speed.

I'm guessing a tripod would be something to look into if I was to continue taking more shots like these.
