New Zealand music for me is whatever Neil Finn happens to be writing at the moment. He wrote this gorgeous little song, some island ditty, and he had this NZ tribal church choir start the song off with this amazing crescendo of sound. He's AWESOME!!!

    I luv Neil Finn....

...and old Crowded House doesn't suck, either......

bic runga is wonderful, i think she moved to UK but i hope she'll move back here here at some point... I really like brooke fraser, she has a beautiful wistful voice and is a great song writer.

Totally agreed! Im so proud of my Kiwi roots! Seems that theyve started to produce some great music since I left :( makes me wonder if I should have left or not lol.

Some of my faves are Che fu (family friend of ours) who has a kind of urban hip hop/R&B/Reggae feel to his music. Really proud of his Polynesian roots. You can check him out at:

    http://www.che-fu.com/homepage.html

Before he went solo, he was in a band called Supergroove (Such a early 90's band name) Its more of a rock feel to their music, so for all you illegal downloaders, you might wanna look up some of their stuff.

If you like Bic Runga, you might like to try her sister, Boh Runga, (Pronounced like Beau - go figure) lead singer of Stellar*. Its not an exact copy of Bic's stuff, less ballard like and more Rock like, but great to crank up and dance around to  You can sample some of their music at:

    http://www.stellar.co.nz/ml-initial.html

Kachafire is another good band. If your into that Reggae/Jazzish sound you might wanna give them a listen. Their song Giddy up - or as I call it "the skanking song" is good, just to have a laugh at the lyrics alone. For the many Aussies across the ditch, theyre on theyre way over to your side of town, tour dates and such are at this address:

There, I think Ive done enough tooting of the NZ Music Horn for now
    Hope your proud Von :p
