Icassell: arent they hanging around in a zoo near you? Here they are always looking for fast food. So you can find them near the pelicans, penguins and stuff. They are pretty much used to humans too. I can get to a distance of about 2 meters.

I've only tried them wild ... and my results are mediocre (my long lens is 420 when I put the 1.4X TC on the 100-300 (the 2X is too soft and too slow at 600mm). I haven't been able to get close enough. I'll have to see if we have them at our zoo ... I usually get lots of flamingo pix there

We also have a heron population near us, About a 15 minute walk. I went there in the beginning of the year, when the males were making the nests. There was alot of flying around going on then, was a great moment to take heron pics
