Hi. I am wondering if anyone else has an E-M10 here in these forums, or have played with one before. I just got my yesterday, and have found that putting on my 25mm 1.8 is EXTREMELY tight. I looked online and found a lot of people with a similar problem. I understand there are variances when it comes to cameras, but the tightness seems to affect each body, based on which lens is used.

What I am hoping to ask, is if anyone has found a widely acceptable solution to loosen the tightness. One person on the internet recommended a TINY bit of WD40 around the ring on the body to loosen up. Perhaps there might be a less *possibly damaging solution?

I would not use WD40, firstly it is not a lubricant but rather a water displacer. A good lubricant for this application is on your face. Really! Rub your finger firmly against the side of your nose & then on the mating surfaces of the lens/camera & see if this helps.

If you purchased from a local store, take it there to see if everything is within specifications.

A bit of KY gel should do the trick

"Nose grease"...what Ron has told you about is something we used to do with fishing rods that had metal-to-metal joining ferrules...because the fit is so precisely machined, and the male-female coupling creates some suction, it used to be absolutely essential to use some "nose grease" on higher-end ferrules, which fit together VERY tightly! If one did not lubricate the male ferrule, it could be extreeeeeeeeemly difficult to get the danged rod sections apart! Ron is not kidding you on the whole "nose grease" thing.

Still, a fishing rod and a lens are different things. This sounds like it might be some kind of a systemic manufacturing or quality control problem with the camera and lens; I've never had any lens on any brand of camera that had a really, really tight fit. Snug, yes, but really tight, no, never.I think that personally, I would be somewhat mentally agitated by this type of a situation on a brand-new camera and lens, especially on higher-end gear like this. If this was some $10, made in China cheapie lens adapter, I could understand how the tolerances might be sloppy, and significantly off, but from Oly? That's just...weird...that would bother me[/QUOTE]

Unfortunately It's bought online. I'd have to drive 4 hours to get to the store...Korea does not do particularly well in selling anything other than Samsung and Sony.

I will try the nose grease.

*I have tried the nose grease, and it works perfectly. It slides in with very little effort now, just like how it was with my Canon. Thank you!

So pleased it worked for you. This was a trick I learned from my grandfather & I am now 73 years old myself.
