Looks like a video game. hdr is very easily done wrong, but when it is done right, it comes out phenomenal.

The first scene doesn't have a high dynamic range (HDR).
The second one does, but you didn't expand the dynamic range much if any by exposing the dark parts of the scene so they have more detail visible.

You could get pretty much the same look by making 1 good exposure, then boosting the mid-tone contrast and vibrance.

Love the first shot. It's crisp and very clean and sharp. It's not really a true HDR because you haven't pushed the dynamic range at all beyond what a well exposed single image could produce.

Regardless, it's a fantastic image. The "tamer" version you posted isn't nearly as compelling, IMO.
