What caused that? Broken steering component? Accidental arm spasm on the driver's part on the green with 2,000 horsepower spinnin' those back tires? I mean, that was one bad,bad start!

Actually it was most likely a broken rear axle. The right side probably broke. The left torqued steered and pushed the car to the barrier.

If you watched the video of the crash. He does step back from the wall. But he is in a full photo taking stance. And concentrating on the shots.
 
Nope, the car dumped fluid causing the car to spin.

That photographer needs to buy a lottery ticket.
 
I dont know it is probably the case of being focused on shooting, if your mind is totally into shooting then all you notice is what is in the viewfinder and, arent thinking about how close the car is to you. Now later if you arent killed you might say to yourself, WOW! That was a close one.
