Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Impromptu shoot for a friend of mine, she needed photos for a family newsletter hehe. She wanted one b&w, one sepia, and one color so here is what we came up with. Comments?

They look oversoftened (except for the eyes) IMO. I'd tone down the softening some and I think that'd do it. Looks like good captures. :)

I am sorry but these are so not flattering for a small babe!

The first , his eyes are just black, no life in them at all....its also very soft, was this done on purpose?

Sepia and babies..not for me.makes them look aged.

Last one, what the heck happened to the skin!Oh my, did you smooth it??

Where are the originals.I bet they are better:D Cute babe, you have a perfect model to learn with!

Sorry to come off, but babies are supposed to be sweet and natural....:(

WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY Over processed. Babies don't need much done to their skin. They shouldn't look plastic. I hardly ever touch babies skin. Unless they have skin peeling or something. Even then, it's very little.

Keep experimenting though!

I was going for a negative clarity look on the last one, it looked good before, but now that I am looking at the larger size I think I will redo that one, less negative clarity!! I like the first as is.

I am not a fan of sepia at all but that is what she wanted, so that is what she got. Lol.

I might have to use that one for my next OOF photo.

Honestly, they have a sort of "mug shot" look to them. Try and find some more interesting angles to shoot from. Everyone sees the baby from that exact angle, so a photo of that is not very eye catching.

All of that said. If that is what the "client" wanted, then that is what you should have done.

Actually if you will take a look at the unedited photo you will see that it is not OOF.

I offered a few edits to my friend as opposed to the sepia and b&w ones but she wanted to use the originals that I posted. Fine with me, I just did the edits for me more or less. Lol. Wasn't a paid shoot so she wasn't too picky either.

I watch this little man every week so I am going to get a lot of camera time with him. Hopefully I can try and get some more interesting angles on some backdrops.

^ That shows how much bad processing was done to the original to me. Keep it simple with babes....they don't need alot of work in edit. This original, besides need a little fill light and some warmth, is far better .

Just a mention, just because the client wants sepia, doesn't mean that's the best choice, sometimes , you have to show her the BETTER choice in your captures. They are swayed by what they see on FB or some other gimmicky site. You have the options to show her how the baby will look in the best of lights.
