Opinions for subject rather than photographic style?

my opinion on why it's only ok, is that the perpective on the first is only mediochre, nothing interesting. and the second by personal preference I would like to see the rougher or more pinty part in focus.

Like I said... I don't care about the photography... I care about "how good did the woodworker do"

The table isn't doing much for me, but anybody that can turn a burl without it exploding gets my vote!

The table's actually a replica he did of an antique. Looks a LOT like the original, with minor diffs.
