Opteka IR remote for XTi

i just bought this opteka IR remote for my canon XTi but i cannot seem to get it to work. are there any tricks or a setup that i have to do on the camera, or did i get a faulty remote?

i might be mistaken, but i think the only thing the remote will ativate is the shutter. i have a Canon RC-1 and it only activates the shutter.

also, in order for it to work, you have to set the camera to timer mode. it wont work in a normal or burst mode.

check the manual for the remote and for the XTi. i have an XT, so it may be different.

It should work as long as the camera is set to remote/timer and if you point the remote to the front of the camera.
